On November 30 and December 1, 2024, our Urban Sketchers Gdańsk group organized a two-day artistic event called Gdańsk Christmas Sketching. We were thrilled to welcome over 80 urban sketching enthusiasts from all over Poland!

The Event!

November 30, 2024

On this day, we had the pleasure of meeting at the Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Biology at the University of Gdańsk, where we sketched together surrounded by fascinating biological exhibits. The day was enriched by a workshop led by our member, Tetiana Ocheredko, on “Stains and Textures in Architectural Sketches.”

In the evening, we gathered for a Drink & Draw session at the Stacja Metropolia food hall! It was a wonderful time spent sketching, chatting, and enjoying food with fellow sketchers from across Poland.

December 1, 2024

We moved to the stunning foyer of the Wybrzeże Theatre, where we had the chance to sketch during one of the best Christmas markets in Europe. Participants received small holiday gifts from our sponsors (Roman Szmal, Paleta Art, Renesans), adding to the festive atmosphere.

The day featured workshops led by:

Jula Majewska, who demonstrated quick ways to combine techniques for capturing urban spaces.

Kasia J. Siuda, who inspired participants to paint with soot.

To conclude the event, we gathered at the Christmas Market’s workshop space in the Great Armoury, where Kasia J. Siuda proved that just three colors can create an amazing urban sketch. Each instructor introduced participants to their unique artistic approach, which was met with great enthusiasm.
